The world today is run by monetary challenges and perils that society must face when dealing with an economic down turn. If you think about it, we've gone through a lot these past few years. The semi-collapse of wall street, the closure and merging of financial institutions as well as the predatory lending that lead to the meltdown of the real estate markets…Because of all this hardship, people today - especially Americans, are very much concerned with how and where they are going to spend their hard earned money. The United States was built on small business and the American dream with the very idea of creating something out of nothing. We can all agree that maximizing costs where possible is an integral component of running a successful business. One often hears the term “Building Information Modeling” in connection with architecture and the construction industry. However, since this is a phrase that is slow to enter the vocabulary of most people, a clear explanation of the term will certainly be helpful. This article attempts to provide that explanation.

Building Information Modeling is, simply put, the creation and manipulation of a building's data using a virtual 3-D model.

1. When you change something in the 3D model, all the 2D views, including sections, are automatically updated. In a CAD drafting platform, you would have to refresh the 2D views for the data to be updated
