Having Trouble Getting Everything Done?

If that is the case, there is a good chance that you are focusing on the wrong things in your business.

Here is a simple and effective way to become more efficient with how you spend your time:

Step 1: Keep track of how you are currently spending your time. You can do this by doing a "time study" for a one week period of time. Write down everything that you do during your work day for one week. You can use 15 minute increments or 1/2 hour increments of time.

Step 2: Analyze your results. How did you do with the time study? Did you find yourself having trouble keeping track because you do a lot of "multi-tasking"? Note that focus is an important factor in efficiency. What did you find yourself doing that you know you should not have been doing?

Step 3: Low Skill/Low Fun Tasks. What tasks did you do over and over again that required a low level of skill and a low level of enjoyment for you? These are the first things that you can delegate, so that you can begin to spend more time on those things that are important to the growth of your business (and your bottom line!) Write a system for those tasks and get rid of them!

If you have read this and thought "I don't have the time to do a time study", then we may need to talk. We all know that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. In order to make a change, you must first recognize what needs to be changed. If you take this on, you will be rewarded with life's most precious asset - TIME.
