You started marketing your business on the Internet , you've created a blog, created a twitter profile and developed a facebook page-where do you go from here?? You can start publishing updates and sending requests to your friends, but those communications are just the beginning of social media success.
Here are 5 tips that anyone can apply to their social media efforts and see quick results:

Make It Easy For Your Social Media Audience To Participate - Content matters, but so does your personality. What this means is be approachable. Don't talk AT people, talk WITH people. Do so in a way that makes it clear you want them to join in the conversation.
Write Note Worthy Items- The better the content, the more people will want to share it with others...simply put.

Acknowledge And Recognize Your Audience- The power of social media marketing comes from the relationships you develop with your online audience. With that in mind, you must acknowledge people when they reach out to you. I mean, would you ignore a person who walked up to you at a networking event and tried to start a conversation with you? Social Media shouldn't be treated differently from an in person conversations. Many of the most successful marketers make a point of responding to every e-mail, facebook comment, tweet and so on that is directed at them. So recognize your audience, and make them feel like the matter.

Integrate all of your marketing efforts-All of your marketing efforts should work together to present consistent brand messages and lead to your ultimate marketing goals. You should also cross-promote your various marketing efforts. For example, feed your blog content to your Twitter and Facebook profiles using a tool like twitterfeed to promote your Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn profiles by including "Follow Me" buttons in your blog's sidebar that link to your profiles. Include your Twitter ID link to your blog and social media profiles in your e-mail signature.

Don't try to keep up with the Jones' - Just because your competition is doing something on the social web does not mean that you need to do the same thing. Because you don't necessarily have the same goals to meet, it's probable that your competition's initiatives won't help you anyway.
